How we calculate
Every amount on a Feed Bill is an estimate of the advertising revenue an app earns from an hour of your attention. Here is exactly how we get there, with every input and its source, so you can check our work or tell us where it's wrong.
The formula
revenue per hour = revenue per user per year ÷ hours per user per year hours per user per year = minutes per day × 365 ÷ 60 your bill line = your hours per day × 365 × revenue per hour
Revenue per user comes from company earnings reports where they exist (Snap, Pinterest and Reddit publish it), and from analyst estimates of ad revenue divided by user counts where they don't (Meta, Alphabet, ByteDance and X don't publish it per app). Time per user comes from published usage studies. Where no public figure exists, we say so and use a clearly labelled assumption.
Why where you live matters
Advertisers pay far more to reach people in the US and Canada than almost anywhere else. For US & Canada we use each app's own regional figure. For other regions we scale the app's worldwide figure by the last regional split Meta published (Q4 2023), because no app reports it more recently or in more detail.
| Region | Multiplier on the worldwide figure |
|---|---|
| US & Canada | Uses each app's US & Canada figure |
| Europe | × 1.76 |
| Asia-Pacific | × 0.42 |
| Rest of world | × 0.34 |
| Worldwide average | × 1.00 |

What a Feed Bill doesn't count
- Money you pay directly: subscriptions (YouTube Premium, Snapchat+, X Premium), in-app purchases and game spending. Those are already on your real bank statement.
- Apps we can't price honestly: browsers, messaging apps without ads, games and anything without reliable public numbers. They stay on your bill as time, marked n/a.
- Your data's value beyond ads: training data, cross-app tracking and anything else that doesn't show up as ad revenue.
Known weaknesses
- These are averages. Revenue per hour varies a lot by age, interests, device and season (Q4 ads cost far more). Treat your bill as an order of magnitude, not an invoice.
- Quarterly figures are multiplied by 4, which slightly understates a full year because the holiday quarter is the most valuable.
- Your screenshots are projected to a full year: your average day × 365. A single unusual day gives an unusual bill, so upload a week (iPhone) or several days (Android) when you can. Every bill says what it was projected from.
- Sanity check: Meta reported $16.86 of revenue per daily user in Q2 2026, about $67 a year across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger combined, worldwide. Our worldwide per-app figures are consistent with that.
